you're gonna go to the record store, you're gonna give 'em all your money and the radio plays what they want you to hear so sell out with me today...

i'm a bit of a music-whore.

okay, that's a lie. i'm a total music whore. music is
my essence..i'm always listening to it, singing something, bopping around and dancing...whatever. i adamantly swear that i have a soundtrack to my life, and music single handedly can make or break my mood within a matter of a few notes.

i'm not that picky about what i listen to...i'm insanely picky about what i will vouch for, recommend, purchase etc, though.

i really don't give a shit about the mainstream thing because i never listen to the radio..and catchy is catchy, and good music is good music...so i keep an open mind, and have yet to meet a genre of music i haven't really liked...

except, there are those dirty little secrets we all have. those songs and artists we just can't seem to really admit we like...but fuck it...i'm admitting it. ladies and gentlman--sit back, grab a soda, and get ready to witness
e's "pretend you don't like them and deny, deny, deny" musical secrets.

10. the all american rejects, "move along":

alright, now...i liked the song the first time i heard it..and i tried my fucking hardest to not like it the minute i found out it was by the same fuckers who wrote that bastard "i'll keep you my dirty little secret" song that just gets stuck in your goddamn head and NEVER leaves. but alas, i couldn't refrain from liking the song. it's catchy, it's fun, it's got a good beat. damnit. i'm so ashamed.

9. fall out boy, "dance dance":

i hated that song "sugar" or whatever the fuck it was called. i seemed to be the only one..so i downloaded all their other songs and really didn't care for any of them either; however, this song is fantastic. fan-fuckin-tastic! endless radio play, and countless airtime at all the bars in cleveland haven't even made this song suck...i hear it..and i start to sing along and do the fraggle. really, it's embarassing...i know. i was in a punk band for christ's sake...and here i am liking this smut? disgusting!

8. natasha bedingfield:

i heard the song "these words" and i fucking admit it..i was smitten with her. the fact i had to sing that song countless times for people didn't even turn me off from her (see: e's hate for evanescence). she's got a good voice, and pretty decent tunes. i know she's riding the coat-tails of ms. kelly clarkson and is a british version of her and nothing really more, but when a chick sings a song that says "how many frogs do i have to kiss before i meet my prince", you best believe i'm singing along and nodding my head in "amen girl" style!

7. jc chasez, "right here by your side":

it really didn't take much effort to find this uber gay picture of him...actually, this is probably one of the least uber gay pics i found of him..but that's neither here nor there. he had a solo career, it went absolutely nowhere..i saw him at the house of blues way-way-way back with "the dude" in cali, and the music wasn't horrible. she got the cd, i listened to it and immediatly fell in love with this little tune. it's fantastic, it's adorable, and it's amazingly fun to harmonize with...and yes, i can see your opinion of me fall to new levels of low right now....shit!

6. prince:

look at him!! how can you not just love the guy? whatever it is, you can't hate on the dude...and you can't deny that he is a musical genius. and, even with those two factors standing firm, i still don't go around admitting that i love prince. you won't catch me singing along to "when doves cry" if it's playing at a store...or "i wanna be your lover" while i'm trying on shirts at the limited...but never fear, i'm singing along in my head..cause his music fuckin rocks! and if you haven't heard his new shit, check it out...good stuff.

5. britney spears, "i'm a slave for you":

awwww remember what she was like before k-fed? anyway...say what you will about her, but she defined the late nineties with her bubble-gum-no-talent-pop, and i don't care who you are..when you hear the first beats of this song you get this inexplicable urge to shake your ass. don't fucking deny it! the song makes you want to bust-a-mother-fuckin move all up on the dance floor....or your living room...or wherever you happen to be at the moment. and your welcome boys...that's a hot pic, i know.

4. pm dawn:

total ovaries on this one. total ovaries. what chick doesn't hear the song "die without you" and just melt? c'mon! "set adrift on memory bliss" has the same effect. ....ovaries...i blame it on the ovaries...and i'm stickin to it.

3. mariyln manson:

i'm not so much ashamed of the fact i love him and his music. he has some fantastic songs (see: "the beautiful people"), he's highly intelligent (see: "the long hard road out of hell" which is a good read, honestly), he's freaky as fuck, and he's a big ol' softy when it comes to matters of the heart. he's a cool guy...period. i just don't go around admitting i like mr. manson because of the stigma that hasn't seemed to dissipate over the past ten years he's been around. apparently he's still synonmous with satanism, and freaky deaky people who do strnage things like vampirism etc....so, my designer clothed self is just better off listening to him in the confines of my own apartment...no?

2. abba:

don't do it! don't even try to tell me that "dancing queen" doesn't make you want to jump right out of your seat and just disco-fever all over the fucking place! abba rock, and there's no way you can get around admitting it. however, abba isn't one of those bands i'd throw out as a favorite when people ask me what kind of music i like. why? i really have no idea..but i don't think people would really take anything i said afterwards that seriously...not that the music group that brought us "fernando" isn't fantastic, but..i mean...yea, it's just a no go.

1. no doubt:

i absolutely love ska and punk music and i've loved no doubt since the very beginning. when their first lp came out in 1992, i bought it and have been absolutely smitten with them ever since; yet, their sound has under gone a huge transformation since that first cd as has their fame. i still love their music, and i don't really care about them getting huge literally overnight....but when you've loved a band since the very beginning, and they get huge around album four...they kind of inexblicably become a dirty little secret of yours...so it's hard to say "no doubt" when people ask me what my favorite bands are. it makes no sense, i'm sure..but my undying love for no doubt (and gwen..even though i hate her solo album) are pretty low on my admission list.

i still hold tride and true to the idea that music is on a downward spiral into sucking more cock than the cavs in game seven of the series (yes, i'm still bitter), and in comparison the above mentioned ten really aren't so bad to the shit that's considered "hot" now, but..i'm a prideful bitch..what can i say?

and..in completely unrelated and non-sequitur news...my blog is almost a year old! beyond the fact i'm absolutely shocked i've managed to keep up with this...and completely disregarding the fact i'm still shocked, awed, amazed, and thankful that people take the time outof their days to read my crap and comment on it...

i'm shocked it's become one of the more enjoyable things in my life. sad? yes. but very true. so, in an effort to recapture the magic of my bloggy blog's naisance...i'm bringing it back to my first appearance in blog land:

i know. i'm so fucking sweet, huh? it's a wonder anyone even bothered stopping by with that glorious mug in the corner. gotta love the gum in my teeth too, huh?

happy hnt y'all!

Hi B, I haven't commented in a but I thought I would take advantage of the first comment :)

Hope you are doing better! In reading it doesn't sound like much progress, just know someone is routing for you :)

Ok, first off Sugar We're Going Down is a much better song than Dance, Dance.

Second, Natasha Bedingfield is a rip off of Kelly Clarkson? Au contraire. Just because you yankees are only getting into her now (and as always are behind in the genre of 'rest of the world' music), her album came out 2004, the same time as 'Breakaway'. Unless you think Unwritten is ripping off Kelly Clarkson's first, Idol-cock-sucking debut. Non?

There is still nothing that really sounds like Marilyn Manson's first three albums, bar the occasional NIN flourish care of Reznor's production (on the first two anyway, not counting the remix album). It's a funny thing that even his fans are a little embarrassed!

You already know my feelings on Abba.

Ok, so I wasn't up with No Doubt until Just a Girl came out when I was eleven or so, but as soon as I saw that clip I knew that girl would be a star. Ah, talent scout before puberty.

It's weird how seeing that picture again makes me nostalgic, hahah.

So dead on on those... hehehe..I love to hate Britney but her music is, while not good in the sense of good music, good to work out to and to dance to.

And I do love that pic, Ellie-Elle. It is totally you in spirit.

Saweeeeeeet!

Huneeb: i'm peachy keen, and glad you like the music posts :)

Hedge: i didn't mean it in a "she's kelly clarkson, euro style" kind of way, but for marketing in america she's kinda packaged like that. i prefer her to kelly because she actually has talent and can sing. manson is a dirty secret for a lot of people, but he's just too fantastic to not love...same with no doubt. and i admit that the picture got me all nostaligic for the "just a girl" days of the band. god i love them!

Jenny: haha! glad you liked the pic :)

Kristen: i'll trade you that for the "pussy control" by prince that is just going non stop in my head....along with the jackhammer outside.

Dzer: a bit early :) it's not 'til june! but it thanks you haha. really? that's your fav pic? haha why?!

Nat: she's hateably lovable no? i'm sickeningly enthralled with her white trash ways!

Flounder: me...as a result of the jack hammer that started at 8am and i couldn't seem to drowned out much past 8:15

Kristen: that's a good ass song though! though, my best friend said it reminds him of me..and that irks me.

Trix: haha not everyone loves abba...i have to fight off the urge to vomit whenever i hear jessica simpson =P

I love that Natasha Bedinfield CD that I "bought for my wife".

These Words is addictive.

BTW - I just noticed your "I (heart) my boobs" button on the right. I (heart) them too.

da buttah said...

Flounder: haha...i love going into best buy and buying some wack shit. when i bought abba's greatest hits i just figured it was a good idea to say "it's for my mom" when the person was scanning it, like they gave a shit. and glad you like my titties.

Guerilla: OH!! i love that fucking song! and lets not forget wham "wake me up before you go go!"....i've always liked pink, i think she's superfuntastic :)

Shane: really? i repeat..WHY?!

Kristen: the dj always plays it when we're closing the bar, for me..i sit there shaking my ass putting glasses and bottles away..he loves it.

flounder said...

Freedom is a great song, but mostly because of all the hotties in the video.

You lost me with Wham.

I like the Gap Band's You Dropped a Bomb on Me, too.

da buttah said...

oh c'mon! wham makes you bop around

you dropped the bomb on me is a good-un

heh scorpians: "rock me like a hurricane" is awesome :)

Daniel said...

Guerrilla: Freedom '90 ('To win the race, a prettier face') by George Michael or Freedom ('I don't want your freedom, I don't want to play around') by Wham?

Either way, awesome.

I mean, what? I don't like George Michael.

Ah fuck it, nothing to be ashamed of.

flounder said...

I'm old school. I dig anything by Tom Jones.

Now that is a guity pleasure if ever there was one!

da buttah said...

hah! i saw tom jones when i was 15 with my parents.

nothing scarier than hearing your dad sing "what's new pussycat" for a week straight.

hm...tony bennet..that's a guilty pleasure of mine, but good god his voice makes me swoon.

Daniel said...

It's all about Sinatra. Sammy was more talented, but Frankie had the....shizzle.

da buttah said...

sinatra had the charisma..

but tony can croon like no other. NO other.

flounder said...

I dig Tom Jones because I almost ran his ass over when I was a valet at the Tropicana in AC.

As for Sinatra, saying he is the man is like saying the sky is blue, the grass is green, or Elle is hawt. It goes without saying.

Side note: I was born in the Frank Sinatra Wing of the Atlantic City Medical Center.

Tru dat!

da buttah said...

Sinatra wasn't even that great of a singer! he just had the charisma!

hmmm i held the record for quickest birth at the hospital i was born in...which is now closed, so that doesn't matter.

DAMNIT! you win. you're cooler.

DeepItalianEyes said...

Thanks for not sharing any gum with me. A great post as usual, and you are sweet.

flounder said...

Sinatra wasn't even that great of a singer!

Are you fucking kidding me? I mean really, not that great a singer? Have you ever heard the summer Winds, Witchcraft, or Strangers in the Night? That, my dear, is some singing!

And he was proud of his Italian-American heritage, unlike Mr. Benedetto who felt the need to change his name to Bennett.

And how could I possibly be cooler than da buttah?

Everything Nice said...

No luva not pathetic... It's the shit eating grin smile and that middle finger perfectly poised pronouncing your perpitary puss.

Is is wrong then that I actually started singing Volaire not long ago?

See, now I was a rat pack girl... chalk that shit up to mom, Im still trying to deal with it.

RobynB said...

I love music!

Prince is still cool and still purple... gawd I love it.

That is the cutest picture, seriously. The gum makes it sweeter

da buttah said...

Annabella: thank you!

Flounder: i'm not saying sinatra sucked, i'm saying as far as voice goes...he was good, not excellent. he had great songs, and he sang the shit out of them..i admit that. i'm not going to win this am i? okay! shutting up haha

Em: yea, my dads all about the rat pack. when i heard oceans 11 came out, i seemed to be the only one in my group who was like "they remade that movie?" and nothing wrong with some volaire!

Robyn: music=bomb ass! and thank ya..my gum likes having a place in my sweetness.
